The Need
Since 1992, the Oregon Coast Aquarium has been one of the jewels on the Pacific Highway. Evolving from a small, rural aquarium to frequently rated in the top ten aquariums in the U.S., the Aquarium continues to draw visitors to the central coast from around the world.
Our Campaign Goal
Our campaign goal to complete these projects is $28 Million – all for the purpose of creating unique and engaging experiences that connect you to the Oregon coast and inspire ocean conservation. We have raised $22 Million toward this goal.
Timeline
Masterplan concepts and cost estimates are complete, and implementation is scheduled to begin in phases as funds are raised. Consider making a gift of any size to help us reach these milestones:
Phase I – Entry and Children's Nature Play Projects
While finishing touches to our lobby remodel are underway, our new Nature Play Area, Headwaters feature, Moon Jelly Café, and Outdoor Amphitheater are open! The entry's new admission annex is also open for business, having completed early in 2021.
Phase II – Three Indoor Galleries
The previous kelp forest exhibit was transformed into our Indo Pacific Coral Reef tropical exhibit in summer 2020. As funding is secured, gallery remodeling will continue fall 2023 and bring renovations and additions to our indoor galleries.
Phase III – Marine Rehabilitation Center
Architectural drawings will be completed as funds are secured, with construction targeted to begin in 2024.
Phase I-III – Enhance Education Programs
Strategic planning and guest surveys were conducted in 2019, which will inform a campus-wide interpretive masterplan to update all exhibit signage and interactives as projects are completed.
